Weekend Laziness

Abigail and I enjoyed the nice spread of goodies set out at the Teal’s Market Holiday Open House last week. The food was delicious, and we both enjoyed our evening meal at Teal’s.

This past weekend I didn’t go out geocaching or hunting, although either activity would have been enjoyable. I did manage to get out and take some photos of outdoor scenery and things happening in town, but I was far from physically active. I confess that I took a nap on both Saturday and Sunday.
I thought about going into my garage and putzing around with a few things, but really the only thing I had to do was organize some wood in the garage that I didn’t get to when I cleaned it up earlier this fall. Instead, I spent several hours Saturday morning and again on Sunday doing work things. We also stocked up on food on Saturday with a big grocery outing – ouch – but it was necessary. We had plans to do some family photos on Sunday, but that didn’t happen, either. The day just got away from us… somehow, we didn’t get that far.
On Saturday, both Abigail and Nikolai were gone. Abigail went to a friend’s birthday party and Nikolai was off to a robotics event, so at least half the family was busy.
Perhaps what I should’ve done was borrow an ice auger and see if I had any better luck ice fishing than I did at summer fishing. But I didn’t.
On Sunday night the kids and mom played a game of Euchre. I helped Marcus and Alivia with their hands, while enjoying some brownies Nikolai and Alivia had made earlier.
This lack of activity is very unusual for me. For the last several weekends dating back to before hunting season, I’ve been busy on every one – usually due to my own hobbies, but regardless, I was still busy. I’m not sure how I feel about staying home and doing nothing. On one hand, it felt nice to just relax for at least part of the day, but on the other hand, it was also a little boring. Unlike the rest of the family, I struggle to find anything to watch on the television (Netflix and Amazon), and aside from doing some work stuff, I really didn’t want to be on the computer. Also, I had no current book that I was really interested in reading, although I have eight on order from the library.
With so few family activities going on this past week, I’m suddenly coming up empty with material to fill this weekly space devoted to my ramblings. I haven’t figured out my plans for next weekend yet, but I think I just might go geocaching, since my wife will be gone to a wedding. I guess it will depend on what the kids are up to, and the weather. I have a destination in mind, but nothing will be cast in stone until later in the week.

Please remember to watch out for the buses that are carrying our most precious cargo. Also, snap a photo or two to preserve a lifetime of memories. Thanks for reading, and have a great week! Feel free to drop me a line at cltimes1@arvig.net or stop by the office for a visit.
