Another Wintry Weekend

Photo---My kids love getting their photos taken by Image Bob, and since he was setting up for Day #2 of a photo shoot at the school, Abigail decided to get her photo taken with him.

Oh joy, yet another cold weekend with snow still on the ground! I’m sure most everyone is the same camp I’m in on that – we need some warmer weather! That doesn’t mean I want to see 90 above, but if we could get some air warm enough to at least get rid of the snow and ice, it sure would be an improvement. In the last week I think there’s been one “almost okay” day, but nothing really to give us a hint that spring might finally be here. And judging by this week’s forecast, it’s not looking like there’s going to be much improvement.
I got a couple hours more sleep than usual on Saturday morning, and then, since my wife had to go the shop to work on some dresses, I decided to take her in, thinking I would do my errands and then head home for a few hours until she was ready to come home. As it turns out, my first stop was at the Home, Sport and Travel Show, where I spent some time visiting with a couple of advertisers and gathering information for the home front. I made a couple more stops, walked around the big box hardware store, and since the time was flying by and my wife was nearly done, I decided to kill a little more time by sitting in my vehicle and listening to my audiobook.
After we finally got home, the rest of the day was spent cleaning some long overdue trouble areas, otherwise known as – Don’t know where to put it? Put in that room! Add to that, once it starts the kids decide to put more stuff in there, and it all got mixed in with what my niece left there before she moved. Needless to say, it got to be quite a mess.
Well, now that room is organized, and Alivia has her sewing machine all set up where she wants it, with room to work. The trick will be keeping it clean; she and Marcus have decided to start playing in there, too.
On Sunday my wife headed off to the Cities to take Abigail to another Shriners appointment, and the rest of stayed home. After they left, I continued reading my book and then went back to sleep until Marcus and Alivia woke me up arguing about something. Whatever their gripe was, they must have solved it, because they were playing together again before I needed to intercede.
After I finished my book, I moved myself downstairs to watch the screen with Nikolai. Eventually I took it over the remote and rented the original Bad News Bears movie – after contemplating just going to the theater. I apparently have never watched that movie or the remake, so after enjoying the first one, I made supper and then found the remake to watch. Nikolai and I watched that; the other two, not so much, and it certainly wasn’t as good as the first one.
In all it was a very boring weekend, one that was supposed to have been spent watching the home team playing baseball, but of course the weather made that a little difficult – for all of the teams in the area.
This weekend, I’m busting out – I’m tentatively planning on making use of the late ice conditions to go after a couple geocaches on Leech Lake with a friend. Hopefully the snow won’t be too bad, and the weather will be tolerable, because it’s a mile each way between the two, and I’m not sure yet on where I can park to best get at them. Either way, it’s sure to be better than just sitting around the house for another whole weekend.

Please remember to watch out for the buses that will be carrying our most precious cargo. Also, snap a photo or two to preserve a lifetime of memories. Thanks for reading, and have a great week! Feel free to drop me a line at cltimes1@arvig.net or stop by the office for a visit.
